Thelma English began teaching her two sons at home in the 80s, later pursuing Exegetical Theology at Western Seminary in Portland. She wrote her own curriculum and, since retiring from teaching home schoolers, offers it free to home educators. Her favorite study is literature, primarily the Bible, but also theology, classical studies, English, and American literature studies, and Shakespeare. Her perspective is always theological. To her knowledge, no college or university has denied credit for any of her classes as of 2022.

    Teaching American Literature

    Thelma provides thirty-one, 1.5-hour video classes available free on YouTube. Classroom materials include a 445-page Syllabus, list of books, weekly handouts, quizzes, exams, etc.. Thelma provides these materials free of charge to parents in email format upon request. Learn how to use these materials to give your student an advanced, Christian perspective of American literature and history from William Bradford, the Constitution, Douglass, Twain, Stowe, and many others.
