OCEANetwork internship applications are now open!
Is your high schooler trying to decide what they want to study in college or do with their life? Are they trying to figure out where their gifts and passions lie? Would some real-world experience help with that decision? Maybe an internship is right for your student.
OCEANetwork offers student internships for high school juniors and seniors.
When: Fall semester of 2024. Internships will run from approximately August 19th through December 2nd. Students will be expected to spend 4 to 4.5 hours per week on internship work and activities in order to earn high school credit. (Parents award credit. We suggest 1/2 credit upon successful program completion.) Activities include weekly training, some of which include industry speakers, intern work assignments, and special collaborative projects that may be published online.
Additionally, OCEANetwork may offer some interns the opportunity to continue during the spring semester of 2025 in order to gain more specific work experience with certain teams in our organization, such as graphic design, publications, social media, leadership, website design, government affairs, and more.
Where: From the comfort of your own home. We work virtually from home communicating through emails, phone calls, video calls, and more.
What: Service and educational opportunities, including a chance to:
- learn who OCEANetwork is and the role the organization plays in serving, protecting, and encouraging homeschoolers in Oregon
- learn about the history of homeschooling in Oregon
- learn about homeschool law in Oregon and the current legislative issues that the OCEANetwork is tracking
- learn to work professionally with a team of mentors and peers
- learn about and grow leadership abilities
- build skills using the various software programs and tools that are a part of making OCEANetwork operate smoothly
- learn to work professionally with a team of mentors and peers
- develop interpersonal skills such as listening, asking the right questions, dealing with differences, etc.
- help the OCEANetwork to serve homeschoolers in Oregon
Why: An opportunity to gain valuable insight into what kinds of work they may or may not be suited for. This is a chance for students to serve the Oregon homeschool community while also earning high school credit and adding practical work experience to their transcript.
