SUMMARY:Kids Biblical Paleontology Day Camp
DESCRIPTION:Ages: 5 to 14+ years old with their adult(s) \nCost: $40/child plus $15 for additional siblings. Scholarships are available\, please contact John Hergenrather for details. \nAbout the Biblical Paleontology day camp: \nWe’ll discover how shellfish and marine fossils were embedded on the highest mountain tops around the world and why dinosaur remains are found near the north pole! \nWe will break into groups by age for further in depth study at science stations and answer questions like: How are fossils formed? Where have scientists historically found them? What about the “fossil record”? What are the differences between trace fossils and preserved remains? How do secular scientists determine the age of fossils? And what are the errors with these dating systems? \nYou’ll get to inspect fossil collections from Multnomah University\, Geologist Dennis Bokovoy and other amazing specimens! \nLastly we will experience a full-scale dino dig site\, unearthing evidence of the Flood of Noah and behemoth in our back yard\, and comparing our size to his! \nFind more information including a “what to bring” list here!

SUMMARY:Mysteries of the Central Gorge #1
DESCRIPTION:Meet: at Starbucks next to Hood River Bridge\, 1040 E Marina Dr\, Hood River\, OR 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM \nLeader: John Hergenrather \nQuestions: 2john@hergs.com  \nFee: individual: $35\, family: $65 \nOn this favorite family outing we take several short hikes\, and collect cobbles transported 400 miles by Noah’s Flood and find petrified wood. In some places the wood is only charcoaled and we can light it on fire\, though it is claimed to be 15-16 million years old! On this trip students will handle “rock solid” evidence for a young earth and a global Flood as we discuss its importance for our faith and our confidence in the historical accuracy of scriptures. Along the way we encounter a variety of flowers and other amazing plants and animals that defy evolution. \nFind more info here!

SUMMARY:Creation Mysteries of the Gorge
DESCRIPTION:On this favorite family outing we take several short hikes\, and collect cobbles transported 400 miles by Noah’s Flood and find petrified wood. \n \nWe will meet at 9:00 am between Starbucks and Hood River Inn near the Hood River Bridge. We will give out a fieldbook with helpful info and have a short introduction. Our route will take us across the Hood River Bridge and about 20 miles with 4 or 5 stops and short hikes on the Washington side. More helpful details and reminders will be sent a week or so before the trip.

SUMMARY:Kids Biblical Paleontology Day Camp
DESCRIPTION:Prepare for a day of discovery and bring your questions! How are fossils formed? Where have scientists historically found them? What are the differences between trace fossils and preserved remains? And what are the errors with fossil dating systems? \n\n\nGet ready for a fascinating adventure into God’s Word here at the farm as we discover the truth about the amazing ‘pre-historic’ creatures\, aka ‘beasts of the earth’ that God made right along-side Adam and Eve! \n“Look now at the behemoth\, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox. See now\, his strength is in his hips\, And his power is in his stomach muscles. He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze\, His ribs like bars of iron. He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword[meaning only his Creator can threaten it]…Indeed the river may rage\, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident\, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth\, Though he takes it in his eyes\, Or one pierces his nose with a snare. [No one can capture it by the eyes\, or trap it by piercing its nose] \n– Job 40:15-19\, 23-24 NKJV \nWe’ll also examine the fossil evidence that the ‘beasts of the earth’\, dinosaurs\, ‘behemoth’ and ‘every thing that creepeth upon the earth’ was made after its kind\, just as the Bible states …. not by random chance and mutation. \nAnd God made the beast of the earth after his kind… and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. …And God saw every thing that he had made\, and\, behold\, it was very good.  \n – Genesis 1:25\,31 KJV \nAnd we’ll discover how shellfish and marine fossils were embedded on the highest mountain tops around the world and why dinosaur remains are found near the north pole! \nHow are fossils formed? Where have scientists historically found them? What are the differences between trace fossils and preserved remains? How do secular scientists determine the age of fossils? And what are the errors with these dating systems? \nYou’ll learn how to make your own petrified pickle! And what that implies(!) \nLastly we will experience a full-scale dino dig site\, unearthing evidence of the Flood of Noah and behemoth in our back yard\, and comparing our size to his!  \nBring your Paleontology tools\, including trowels\, buckets\, brushes and such. A picnic lunch and picnic blanket. Dress for the weather\, whether hats or raincoats – we’ll get our hands dirty\, be encouraged by the reliability of God’s Word and have a TON of fun!

SUMMARY:Gutenberg College's Annual Education Conference
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Gutenberg College’s Annual Education Conference! \nThis August 8-9\, we are pleased to invite K-12 teachers\, school administrators\, and homeschooling parents to Gutenberg College’s Annual Education Conference in Eugene\, Oregon. Every year\, we gather in the beautiful Pacific Northwest for fellowship to thoughtfully consider what it means to educate students within a Biblical worldview.  \nWhat’s the theme of this year’s conference? \nThis year\, we are delighted to welcome some of America’s finest classical educators from the CiRCE Institute (Heidi White & Matt Bianco) and Classical Conversations (Diane Gray) to join us as we explore the theme Teacher as Mentor.  \nModern education often presents teachers as specialists tasked with imparting expert knowledge to students. Yet\, by primarily imparting facts and information\, a specialist’s focus too often becomes overly narrow and overlooks the development of the whole student. This kind of oversight can leave a graduate with major blind spots in his or her understanding and outlook. By contrast\, the teacher as mentor embraces the project of delivering more than subject-specific content and works to cultivate the moral\, spiritual\, and intellectual health of the whole student. In this education conference\, we will explore the nature and practices of mentorship in pursuit of equipping students with tools\, skills\, and wisdom to live faithfully before God. We invite you to join us this August for food\, fellowship\, and meaningful discussion as we explore what it means to mentor our students.  \nWhat should I expect from a Gutenberg conference?  \nIf this is your first Gutenberg conference\, we welcome you! We eat meals together\, discuss together\, and learn together. Gutenberg conferences are intimate and personal with lots of opportunity to interact\, ask questions\, and make progress in your own learning. Discussion and open dialogue are central to our approach as we work together to discover meaning\, truth\, and goodness from a Biblical perspective. Our desire is for all who attend to grow in spiritual\, intellectual\, and emotional depth. \nTeen track coming soon:  \nWe are in the process of finalizing our teen track portion of the conference. Be on the lookout for more information.  \nWhat does it cost? \n\nDiscounted Early Bird registration is open until June 15. \nFull conference: $130 (Individual); $225 (Family); $60 (Student) \nGroups: $125 each (5 or more); $110 each (10 or more); $100 each (20 or more)\n\nOur desire is that costs never prevent a guest from attending. If you want to attend\, but have budgetary restrictions\, we’d love to help you figure out a way to join us. Contact office@gutenberg.edu for opportunities to volunteer at a reduced rate. \nTo learn more\, visit: https://gutenberg.edu/events/education-conference/ \nWe hope you can join us!  \nWarmest regards\,
